Q: Hi! I was curious if the silver version of the octron3 is still available somewhere and if not what kind of paint is used for the finish? Then I can look into a way to turn it silver coloured (I really like silver/metallic pedals hahaha)

Asked by: Tiemo - 3/30/2025
A: Hello, we no longer make the Octron3 in the silver paint finish. You can check the used market, like eBay or Reverb, to see if any silver units are for sale. The pedal has a powder coat paint finish, applied by a professional paint company, and we do not recommend painting over it as this will void the product warranty.

Q: Hi Dave! I’m here in Australia and trying to rebuild my pedalboard for two new projects. (Band stuff and a fun live film score project) I’m currently used to using an OC2 and also a Tycovrahe style octave fuzz and I’m hoping to Octron 3 can possibly cover those bases. Can you please clarify if I will be able to cover that ground with the one pedal? Is the Octron upper octave transformer based like the old design? I hope you have time to answer my questions and shed a bit more light on this for me. Another question I am curious about is if you ever do custom colours too? :) Regards, Ishan

Asked by: Ishan Cooper - 2/3/2025
A: I can't say that it duplicates those effects exactly, but Octron3 delivers a great sounding analog octave up and octave down. If that's what you want, you'll like it. Octave up does not use a transformer. I have the enclosures painted and screened professional in batches, so the only color available is white.

Q: does the octron3 have the ability to adjust the gain for the octave up and octave down so theres no fuzz/distortion a s just clean octaves? are there internal dip switches like on the original model?

Asked by: todd - 4/19/2024
A: Octron3 has no internal settings like the original Octron. Instead it has the settings I think sound best on the two toggle switches. You can get the "clean" octave sound with the Oct up switch on BRIGHT. The sound is the product of distortion, so it's never actually clean. Gain is set, use your gtr vol knob for less gain. -Dave

Q: Hi, I'm a proud owner of a Foxrox Octrox 3 unit. Would running it at 18V instead of 9V may imply reducing the lifespan of the pedal in the long term? Thank you,

Asked by: PR - 10/12/2023
A: It's perfectly safe, it will make no difference in the lifespan of the pedal.

Q: Does this pedal perform well when it is NOT taking signal directly from guitar? (Similarly to some fuzz pedals?) or is it ok to put it anywhere in the chain?

Asked by: Rich - 7/16/2023
A: There are no impedance issues at the input, like with a Fuzz Face, but you'll get the best octave tracking by going direct from your guitar. Compressor, boost, even dirt might get good results but don't try chorus, delay, flange because it won't sound good.

Q: Where do you recommend running the Octron 3 in a multi pedal effects chain? Do you recommend running a boost pedal before or after the Octron? Is 12 o'clock on the volume controls unity gain?

Asked by: Joe Norwood - 5/15/2023
A: Hi Joe, Run a boost after Octron. Putting it before runs the risk of overdriving the input stage which won't sound good. Unity gain on the direct feed is around 3:00 setting. Unity doesn't apply to oct up and down because your amp's ability to reproduce the signals is a factor. Especially low octave. Set them to your liking. Thanks, Dave.

Q: Does the Octron 3 prefer a buffered or an unbuffered input?

Asked by: Gardner - 5/5/2023
A: It doesn't make a difference if the signal coming in is buffered or not. However, to get the best low-octave tracking try it directly after the guitar.

Q: Hello Foxrox!! Curious what the advantage might be of running this pedal at 18v vs 9v - thank you!

Asked by: Cat Daddy - 8/10/2022
A: The only audible difference is more headroom on the Direct signal. If your signal is hot (loud humbuckers, active bass, etc), the direct feed can clip at 9VDC. Going higher, 12v, 15v, etc.. 18v will stop that from happening. Also, the bypass LED is brighter with higher voltage.

Q: Hi, Does the Foxrox Octrox 3 come with a wall wart power supply? I see that the output Jack is stereo, Will the Octrox 3 work if you plug a 1/4 mono Guitar cable into the output or do you have to find that funny spot to get a signal out from the stereo output Jack. Do you sell an 18 volt wall wart for this pedal? Thanks in advance.

Asked by: Robert - 7/21/2021
A: Hi - No wallwart is included. You can purchase 18VDC adaptor from the Accessories page. Octron3 is a mono effect. We use a stereo jack on the output to create even tension compared to the input jack, which is stereo for battery switching. No "funny spot" for plugging, just plug in like normal.
