Q:I just ordered a Cry Baby with Fasel (GBC-95F). I'm not sure if I'll use any Fuzz pedals, but I was thinking of getting this mod anyway. Is it ok to install this even if I may never use any Fuzz pedal?

A: While it's nice to have a buffered output, you won't gain anything by installing FWR. It draws current, so if anything, you'll drain your battery faster.

A: I've never tried it, but I doubt it's needed. If the pedal is switch-less, then I'm guessing that the bypass circuit is already buffered. If you still get oscillation and narrow sweep, then FWR will help but I don't instructions for installing it.

A: According to the RMC website, Wheels of fire is "fuzz friendly". It already contains the buffer circuitry in the FWR, so there's no need for the mod.

Q:Hi Foxrox
I experienced the usual problems (oscillation etc.) with my Wah and Fuzz combination (Jam Pedals Whacko into Jam Pedals Fuzz Phrase SI). But also when the Wah is turned off the Fuzz sounds weak and trebly with the guitar's volume turned down (already at 8). I assume it's because my guitars all have treble bleed mod installed. With a buffer between the Wah and the Fuzz, BOTH problems are gone. So I read here that your FWR circuit is only active when the Wah is on, solving only half of my problems.
Is there a way to wire the FWR so the buffer is always active (like with a Vox V847)?

A: You can wire FWR so it's between the wah foot switch and the output jack. That way it's always on when going through the wah. I don't recommend it because it negates the purpose of installing FWR. BTW - if you're hearing oscillation when your wah is off, something needs to be corrected.

Q:Hello, is the +15dB foxrox output buffer option in the Wah still available so that it can play well with a Fuzz Face placed after the Wah? Will more distortion caused by this output level lead to a 'enhanced' harmonic effect when paired with a Fuzz Face?
Also, will the Fuzz Face still be able to clean up with the guitar volume knob after this modification?

A: If you dial in boost on FWR you will get more fuzz, but when the fuzz is off the wah will be much louder than your guitar with the wah off. It's best to match the level or dial in a just a small amount of boost. The fuzz will still clean up when the wah is off, but when it's on it will not. That is not possible because guitar signal is going through the wah and a buffer. But you can back off volume without the wah starting to oscillate.

Q:1. I assume the buffer is only active when the wah is engaged (so I can still use the guitar volume to clean up my dunlop hendrix silicon fuzz face when the wah is off)?
2. Will it physically fit into a Dunlop GCB 535Q? It looks a little crowded in there?

A: 1. Yes, that's the reason it goes inside the wah pedal and gets wired between circuit output and foot switch. 2. I have not tried installing in a mini-wah, but I'm pretty sure people have installed successfully. If it didn't fit I would have heard about it by now.

A: If the Morley is a buffered wah, then installing FWR should not make a difference. I've never tried it. There's a chance it could solve other issues such as farty-sound when using wah+Fuzz. Somme buffers will do that when going into a Fuzz Face.

Q:Im just about to install it and was wondering if a switch could be installed on the outside of the wah to switch the FWR circuit on and off? Where would the switch be installed circuit? eg: in series with the 9v input to he FWR, would that work?

A: If it is installed correctly, there is no need to shut the 9V power off because it shuts off when input is unplugged. If you want to bypass the FWR you can install a toggle switch. Think of it as a bypass within the pedal. Unless you know some electronics and can figure it out, you should have it done by a qualified technician.

Q:Hi I have a retrofit buffer I want to install in standard modern crybaby gcb95. It has pcb board mounted jacks etc. Just wondering if you have any instructions or diagrams, photos of where to connect red and black wires on the pcb board. I have installed one previously in crybaby classic using the instructions on your website. The standard crybaby gcb95 looks very different. regards, dylan

A: There are so many variations in the circuit boards used, there is no way to keep up. The best way to install is to use a multi-meter. With that, and some basic electronic knowledge, FWR can be installed in any pedal. It will be a learning experience, but well worth it.

Q:Any you can make me the Foxrox Wah Retrofit Kit into a pedal with one knob. I have a lot of wahs. It would be so much easier to use that way instead of having to put one in all my wahs.

A: I don't currently do custom jobs like that. Try Analog Man, he might be able to help you out. The buffer goes inside the wah so it's in the path only when the wah is on. When wah is off, the buffer is out of the path and does not mess up the fuzz sound. Having it in a separate pedal means you have to hit another foot switch before you use your wah and again after.
