The First ZIM clips are up!
ZIM clips rhythm sounds with humbuckers and single coils
Here are two clips, each just under three minutes in length. The first one, ZIM HB1.mp3 was done with a Carvin lefty SC-90. This guitar has humbuckers (Dimarzio's I think) in the neck and bridge positions. The second clip, ZIMB3.mp3 was done with my Carvin lefty Bolt guitar with Texas Special pickups.
The focus in these clips is on rhythm sounds. No screaming leads - just a variety of crunchy, mostly aggressive riffs to demonstrate some of the sounds and textures inside of ZIM. I sat and played with the minidisc rolling for about ten minutes with each guitar, turning knobs and making up riffs. Then I fed it into the computer and chopped things down. In each case, I started with some clean chords, switching pickups to show the bypassed tone. After the first couple of riffs, ZIM is on for the rest of each clip.
Recording set up:
Guitar > ZIM > Fender Twin (amp out) > 1 X Celestion 12 speaker isolated in a foam road case with an SM58. Into the board, onto the minidisc, into the computer, edit and convert to mp3.
