THROUGH-ZERO-FLANGER

Preliminary Audio Clips (more clips coming)

The audio clips below were created using a Carvin lefty Bolt guitar, the FuzzFoot portion of a Captain Coconut 2, my hand-built Tube Screamer clone, the Paradox TZF Prototype, an "amp modeler", into a Minidisc recorder. Delay effects added with amp modeler and computer. Clips were recorded on 2/22/02, after a long night of prototyping and tweaking. I was a little burnt at the time, so pardon the sloppy performance!

To my surprise, Paradox TZF can be set up to produce a pretty convincing Leslie simulation. There's a lot more to explore in this area....

This clip features some clean guitar. Listen to how that flange goes right over the top!

tzf3.mp3

This clip has an almost phase shifter type of sound. The sound dialed in uses positive summing to produce a colorful sound.

tzf4.mp3

This clip is in stereo. The sound dialed in uses negative summing to produce deep cancellations when the flange approaches the zero cross-over point. The delay effect helps to add some space to the sound. THIS IS THE SOUND!! If you're into the deep flanging sounds that Hendrix loved so much, you'll go to town on this one!

This one is similar to the previous one, but it's in mono and there's some positive regeneration added in to give it a more tubular sound.
