SCRAPBOOK

In 1992 FOXROX Electronics went under the name FOXROX. First came the original FOXROX Provibe. Silkscreened in a kitchen and built in a bedroom, the Provibe was one of the earliest Univibe reproductions. The list of Provibe customers included Lenny Kravitz, Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Larry (the guy in Primus), Steve Lukather (Toto) and Jimmy Crespo (formerly with Aerosmith).

Here is a jumbled up scrapbook of images representing things that I've done over the years.

The work bench, winter 2004..

That's Jim Wieder on the left. What a great player - and a cool guy. Here we are a the Pilly guitar show on Sat 11/22/03.

Here I am at the Vintage guitar show in philly with Analog Man, Mike Piera (left) in June of 2003. While I was demonstrating things, Mike pulled out a digital camera and shot a short video. It's short, it's unrehearsed, and it doesn't show you much. But hey, it exists so I may as well share it with you. I'm demonstrating an early prototype of ZIM, the new Dual Overdrive from Foxrox. You get to hear me step through some of the voicing selections. Check it out - but be warned, it's over 5 megs. ZIMVID

The Electric Factory, Philadelphia PA May 19, 2002. Fox and Analog Man are invited to hang with Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Great guitar player, and a really nice guy. He played a private show with Double Trouble as his band! His pedal board has featured an original Captain Coconut for the past year. He upgraded to a Captain Coconut 2.

Fox and KWS.

Valley Forge PA convention center July 15, 2001. Fox with Geoffrey R. Teese, maker of Teese Real McCoy wah pedals. Pay a visit to REAL McCOY CUSTOM and learn more about the best Wah wha pedals ever created. We demoed our new creations along with Analog Mike. It was great meeting Geoffrey, jamming at the booth and demoing our wares. He's a great guy, and he can play a mean wah..A Teese wah into a Captain coconut - what a combination!

Captain Coconut will help you cop the sound, and Funkydog will help you cop the licks and playing approach of that left handed, strat wielding psychedelic genius we all know and love - Jimi Hendrix.

Aaron Leone proudly displays his Captain Coconut pedal, which he relies on to get him the right sounds for demonstrating his Jimi Hendrix playing style instructional package. You should hear this guy play - he specializes in the gentler side of Jimi, the rhythmic stylings that are usually a weak spot for most Hendrix - school players. Here I am at the Valley Forge PA convention center in November 2000. I was demonstrating Captain Coconuts with Analog Mike.

Here I am backstage with Robin Trower in summer of 1997. The show was at Tramps in NYC and Robin rocked the house!! No - I don't know Robin, I was just lucky enough to meet him one time.

This was my pedal board for a long time. THe box on the top right is a home-made TS with a boost. The box on the bottom right is a Dallas Rangemaster clone. Speed pedal to the left of CC, and Crybaby with original Clyde McCoy guts on teh tright.

This was it for a while.. It always changes.

Here I am at Crest Audio in 1988, sitting in front of a Kelsey 8/3 mixing board. I spent my days building, testing and repairing professional mixing consoles.

This is my pass from the 1987 Summer NAMM show. This was during the Crest Audio FuzzFace reissue days. Crest was originally Dallas Music Industries, which was originally Dallas Arbiter.

In 1987 I received a couple phone calls from Eric Johnson, having to do with Fuzz Faces. During one conversation, he told me about an old FF he had, which he didn't like so much. I sent him some modification instructions, along with some BC109C Silicon NPN transistors. His tech installed them and performed the mods. Eric was thoughtful enough to drop me a thank you card. Not only is EJ an amazing musician, he has a lot of class. NOTE- The address on this card is old and outdated - DON'T send me mail at this address!

The infamous passport photo from 1981. I was 18 at the time. Would you let this guy back in the country without a full cavity search?

I was 17.

The Foxrox PROVIBE...the original Uni-Vibe clone

I built my first Uni-Vibe clones in 1987. I was fixing a vibe and I made a duplicate for myself. It was something I always wanted, but could never find. The word got out that I could build them and before you know it I was getting letters and phone calls from people asking for them.

In 1992, 93 & 94 I built and sold around 150 Provibes. Most of them were sold through North Star Audio. Some of them went to Bob Bradshaw of Custom Audio Electronics. Bob put them into the effects systems of the rich and famous. At this point Provibes are hard to come by and are considered very collectable because of their sound, quality and uniqueness.

This is a Foxrox Provibe - the early version. There's only a handful of them out there. Built circa 1992.

This is a Foxrox Provibe - the later version. Built in '93 and '94.

FuzzFace - I was the force behind the 1980's FuzzFace reissues. I built the prototypes, did all the marketing and tested all of them. Between 11/86 and 1990 Crest Audio pumped out around 2000 of them. Crest was originally Dallas Music Industries, which was originally Dallas Arbiter. Check out the 1980's Crest Audio FuzzFace reissue story.

Here are some photos of some very rare FuzzFaces.

This is an original Tycobrahe Octavia with original box and sticker. This was given to me by Dirk Schubert of Schubert Systems. He was one of the original Tycobrahe engineers. Jim Gamble, Tycobrahe's chief engineer is a good friend of mine. I worked closely with him in the late '80's and early '90's building, testing and servicing the Gamble EX56 mixing consoles, used by some of the biggest concert tours ever.

Tremface

Sorry about the quality - I couldn't get to a scanner so I took some photos of the schematic and the inside of a Tremface. Back when I was getting ready to reissue the Dallas Arbiter Fuzzface, I came across a couple boxes of new old stock Trem Faces, one of the rarest effects out there. Here are some photos that were requested by some of the guys over at Ampage and Aron Nelson's forum.

It says BF 2440!

It doesn't mater what the diode is - 1N914, 4148, 1N4001 will do
